The clubhouse at Woodside Village has excellent facilities including a lounge, dining room, function room, craft centre, hairdresser, library, large screen TV, snooker room and The Woodpecker which serves as a sandwich & coffee bar with free coffee & tea and certain daily newspapers and which also doubles up as a pub. There is a heated swimming pool, a patio and a croquet lawn. The management offices are located in the clubhouse, as are the post boxes.

Dining Room

Optional meals are provided daily. Lunch is served every day, and dinner is served on Wednesdays. The frequency and cost of meals is subject to periodic review. The price and quality of the meals offer value for money; consequently many residents invite family and friends to join them for lunch or dinner.

The Woodpecker

The Woodpecker Coffee Shop is a popular meeting place where you can help yourself to free tea or coffee whilst reading the daily newspapers or you can treat yourself to a light breakfast or lunch.

The Woodpecker Bar is open every Friday evening for an hour or so and is staffed by residents. The costs of beverages sold are debited to the individual resident’s monthly Woodside account. The pub is also open for pre-dinner drinks on Wednesday evenings.

Happy Hour takes place on the first Friday evening of every month when a “buy-one-get-one-free” policy applies to the first drink for all residents. Tickets may be bought at a cost of R5 each, and a jackpot draw takes place during the evening, with two-thirds of the pool being paid to the winning ticket holder and one-third accruing to the runner-up.

Hairdressing salon

A salon with full facilities is situated in the clubhouse and is open from Tuesdays to Saturdays.

The village minibus operates as follows:

  • A weekly shopping trip to Pick n Pay, Rondebosch (each Friday);
  • A fortnightly shopping trip to Rosmead Spar (every second and fourth Wednesday; and
  • A bi-monthly trip to Cavendish Square, Claremont (every first and third Wednesday of the month.

There is no cost to residents.

The maintenance of our gardens is outsourced to an independent company.  They are responsible for all the garden areas known as common property.

We encourage residents to take an interest in their gardens.  Residents are responsible for maintaining any garden beds, trees and shrubs which surround their unit.

Woodside Village is surrounded by an electric security fence and the grounds are patrolled regularly, day and night. CCTV cameras monitor our entrance and exit gates and infra-red beams protect our boundary fence along the M5 motorway.

Woodside Village is private property and the right of admission is reserved. All visitors, staff, contractors and any other persons working at Woodside Village, enter the village after first reporting to our security personnel, who are required to contact residents in order to announce their visitors.

All cottages and apartments are linked to the 24-hour security system via their panic buttons and their telephones.
